New Deadline set for Teen Creative Writing Contest

Students in grades 7 through 12 who still want to participate in the Southwest Michigan Teen Creative Writing Challenge are getting their wish.
The Committee determined recently that the original deadline fell too close to many schools’ January exams schedules. In order to accommodate as many students as possible, the new deadline to submit works is now March 1, 2020.
The Challenge, open to all students in grades 7 through 12, offers opportunities in five categories: Comics, Cover Art, Fiction, Flash, Fiction, and Poetry.   Each writing category is divided into three divisions based on grade: 7 and 8, 9 and 10, and 11 and 12.
Top prize in each division is $100. Second place receives $50 and third, $25. The overall winner of the Cover Art category receives $100. All winning entries will be published in a professionally printed book.
Works may be submitted online at:  https://www.vbdl.org/creative-writing-challenge/. For a complete set of rules, contact any sponsoring library or e-mail TCWC@vbdl.org.
The Challenge is sponsored by Cass District Library, Dowagiac District Library, Lawton Public Library, Marcellus Township Wood Memorial Library, Paw Paw District Library, and Van Buren District Library.
