MARTIN - The Gobles girls basketball team took their 8-0 undefeated record on the road to Martin last Friday.  The also-perfect Lady Clippers were looking to be on top of the Southwestern Athletic Conference Lakeshore Division.
Christiana Hunt grabbed the opening tip off for Gobles and put the Tigers on the board first.  The Tigers played aggressive and took a 10-5 first quarter lead; then locked down the Clippers, and essentially, the game, in the second period by out-scoring them 19-2 for a 29-7 halftime advantage. The second half was more even, but Martin could not overcome the first half deficit, and the Tigers rolled to the 52-31 win.
“It was really great coming out strong in the first quarter with great intensity,” said Gobles Coach John Curtis. “The girls really wanted this one and I'm pretty proud of them.”
Hunt led the Tigers with 17 points and five assists. Maddy Tiller added 16 points and six rebounds, and Libbee Nason scored 13 points.
