Memorial Day Luncheon
Join us at the Paw Paw Senior City East on Thursday, May 23 for a special luncheon to honor all. Memorial Day is a solemn day of remembrance for everyone who has died serving in the American armed forces, and unofficial start to the summer. On the menu: bbq chicken, baked potatoes, corn casserole, side salad, roll and dessert. Lunch is served at 12 noon. Please RSVP by calling 269-655-8000 or sign up at the greeter table before May 16, 2019. Memorial Day, originally known as Decoration Day, started after the Civil War to honor the Union and Confederate dead soldiers.

The Learning Garden
A community garden located in Paw Paw, is in need of volunteers. The Learning Garden is a collaboration between United Christian Services and The Van Buren County ISD.  Students will be planting and caring for the garden, along with community volunteers.  Students and community members will both enjoy the harvest in the fall. Harvested food will be given to students, The Porch Project, and volunteers.  They are in need of someone to till the garden, which is approximately 3/4 of an acre. They also need volunteers to participate in a planting day, Wednesday, May 22, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. (Or May 23, depending on weather). Volunteers are also needed in the summer to weed and care for the garden, or to oversee community workers.
For more information, please call Michelle Davis at 269-655-8000.
