Local communities paid tribute with large turnouts for Memorial Day parades at Gobles, Lawton  Mattawan, and Lawrence. At Hill Cemetery,
Lawrence, Lawrence Community World War I and World War II Honor Rolls were recently erected at the Lawrence Area Veterans Memorial by the Lawrence American Legion Hess-Eastman Post 174. The honor rolls list the names of every Lawrence community resident who served in World War I and II, as well as those who died in service, six in WW I and 12 in WW II.
Funding for the honor rolls was made possible through the Robert S. Marks, Jr. memorial, established by his family. Marks was a 1943 graduate of Lawrence High School and an Army Air Force
