GOBLES - A Gobles man faces several alcohol-related charges following an incident, January 6, in Gobles, according to press release from the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office.
At approximately 5 p.m., a Sheriff's deputy was called to investigate two adult males who appeared to be intoxicated and actively consuming alcohol at a park where five young children were present.
The deputy located the suspect vehicle, a 2002 Ford Taurus, parked in a driveway on 6th Avenue, near M-40, Gobles, moments after it left the park about a half-mile down the road.  The driver and passenger were actively consuming alcohol as the deputy arrived and children, who ranged in ages from two to seven, were still observed climbing out of the back seat.
The driver, a 30-year-old Gobles man, was found to be intoxicated and very uncooperative. He refused all roadside evaluations. After an investigation, the man, whose name was not released pending arraignment, was arrested on five counts - of operating while intoxicated - child endangerment and transporting open alcohol containers.
A search warrant was then obtained for a  sample of the driver’s blood, after he refused to provide a breath sample at the Van Buren County Jail.
The driver was later charged with resisting and obstructing the investigation because of his actions at the hospital.
