Local Ham Radio Operators to Hold Field Day

LAWRENCE - Amateur radio operators, often called "Hams" provide back-up communications for everything from local events to the International Space Station. Local "Hams" will join with thousands of other Amateur Radio operators testing their capabilities.
An annual event, called "Field Day" is sponsored by the American Radio Relay League (ARRL), the national association for Amateur Radio.  Ham operators will operate emergency and home stations around the country. Locally, members of the Black River Amateur Radio Club will be demonstrating Amateur Radio at 56500 48th Avenue, Lawrence on Saturday, June 27, and Sunday, June 28.  On-the-air operations will start Saturday afternoon and continue around the clock until early Sunday afternoon.  The public is invited to come and see ham radio in action, have fun and learn how to get their own FCC radio license.  Club members can even help you get on the air.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, physical distancing will be practiced and visitors are requested to wear a mask when in close contact with others.
