MEDC offers support to Lawton’s splash pad at Chancy Lewis Park

LAWTON - The Lawton Downtown Development Authority  announced this week that it has teamed up with the the Michigan Economic Development Corporation as funding partners for the Lawton Splash Pad Project. Lawton Village Manager Dan Bishop said, “The MEDC has signed on to this project with a challenge matching grant - if we are successful at raising $40,000 between May 15 and July 15, MEDC will match each dollar we raise, so long as we reach our goal.”
Bishop said, “The opportunity to partner with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation is a true game-changer for our town and residents in the surrounding area. Together we can make the future brighter and improve this home we love.”
The Patronicity crowdfunding site will accept credit cards as a way to make a contribution, or personal checks may be dropped off at the Lawton Village Hall office.
Bishop said, “For those of you who participate at the $100 or greater level, you’ll find more information on the Buy a Brick program at the Patronicity site as well as at the Village Office.”
Lawton Village Council member Paul Knudstrup said, “Having the chance to leverage our contributions through the MEDC/Patronicity grant program is a huge plus for our community. If we all pull together and make this fundraising effort succeed, we’ll be able to make this long-term dream a reality right here in our own Lewis Park.”
