Bicyclist injured when struck by vehicle in downtown Paw Paw
PAW PAW - A bicyclist riding across Michigan Avenue at Kalamazoo Street in downtown Paw Paw Tuesday was struck by a vehicle at approximately 6:30 p.m., according to a press release from the Paw Paw Police Department.
According to Paw Paw Chief of Police Eric Marshall, the bicyclist’s injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. The bicyclist was transported to Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo, for treatment of injuries.
Marshall said the bicyclist was trapped under the vehicle for a short time. The Paw Paw Fire Department responded to the scene and used heavy airbags to lift the vehicle off the bicyclist.
Assisting the Paw Paw Police Department at the scene were members of the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office, Decatur Village Police and Michigan State Police.
The accident remains under investigation.
