Special Olympics breakfast held

    The Knights of Columbus, Paw Paw, hosted a breakfast at the Kristopher Club, for 71 athletes and their coaches, last Thursday, May 30, as they later began their journey to Mt. Pleasant, MI, to participate in the Special Olympics. Also attending the Paw Paw send-off were the courts of Miss Paw Paw and Miss Blossomtime. Michigan State Police troopers, Van Buren and Berrien County Sheriff’s deputies, as well as the Paw Paw Police and Fire departments, all provided an escort for the Olympians as they made their way through Paw Paw to Interstate 94. For the athletes’ efforts at the weekend event, the team was awarded 33 Gold medals, 28 Silver, 24 Bronze,  and 32 ribbons. Team members competed in volleyball, bowling, boccie ball, powerlifting, swimming and track and field.
