PP Village Players will move to Freshwater stage

The Paw Paw Village Players has announced that the long-time community theater will now be based at 600 East Michigan, “where we are sharing the stage with Freshwater Community Church, who also happens to be our landlord,” said Don Stine, Paw Paw Village Players President. The stage of the old schoolhouse is where the first Players’ productions were performed, and only about a block from the Paw Paw Village Play-house, PPVP’s more recent home.
“This is exciting for several reasons,” said Stine. “It is a much larger stage. While it is definitely going to make us rethink how we build sets and so forth, it gives us a lot more space to spread our wings as actors, dancers and musicians.”
The Freshwater location is also a barrier-free venue, offering handicap accessibility to audience members.  “This has been a goal for many years, but would have been prohibitively expensive in our old home” said Stine.
“Freshwater is going into a period of remodeling so it may be a while before we are ready to perform a full-blown show, but we are hopeful that through the summer we can present a few one- and two-show programs, just to keep your interest up.”
Stine noted, “We have at least one magic show planned, as well as an acoustic musical program in the works.
“But before that, coming up on June 2 and 3, we are bringing you a Broadway musical extra-vaganza!”  Stine said. “The sister team of Abigail Beck Snow and Hannah Snow have put together an awesome evening of music and performance for us. It is their second annual fundraiser for the Village Players, but admission is free.
“Come and enjoy the first show in our new home, June 2 at 7:30 p.m. and June 3 at 3 p.m.”
