Maizie C. Seeber

Maizie Stewart Seeber, 97, passed away peacefully at her home on February 22, 2019, with her family by her side.
She was born in Sault Sainte Marie, MI, on March 25, 1921 to Pearl Mckillican. She was later adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Raymond (Margot Sallows) Garl of Lansing, MI.
In 1939, she graduated from Lansing Central High School.
On September 12, 1942, she married Dr. Robert G. Stewart and moved to Coopersville, where he had started his veterinary practice. They later moved to McBain, MI, and Oak Lawn,  IL, and finally to Paw Paw before they divorced.
Maizie worked at the Osteopathic Hospital in Grand Rapids for 25-plus years, working her way up to Supervisor of Out Patient Billing.
She met Floyd (Bud) Seeber and they were later married on December 31, 1973. Bud and Maizie spent as much time as they could up north at their cabin in South Boardman and she continued spending time up there every year, even after Bud’s death.  Bud and Maizie  were members of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Moose club in Hastings.
She joined the John Knox Presbyterian Church in Grand Rapids in 1992 and became very active in the church. She served as an elder and president of Church Women United.
In 2001, Maizie moved back to Paw Paw to be closer to her family. She was a member of the Paw Paw First Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder. She was very active on many committees, Share Net committee, Women’s Bible Study class, Wings of God Transition Home.
She was a member of the Paw Paw Coterie club and the Paw Paw Library Book Club.
She loved celebrating her birthday.  If you knew Maizie, you probably got a card or two from her. She enjoyed sending cards as much as she loved receiving them, and she kept every one of them.
But, most of all she loved spending time with her family; and if it was up North, that was even better.
Maizie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law,  Dr. Michael (Catherine) Stewart of Mason, MI; her daughters and sons-in-law, Mrs. Sally (Rich-ard) Yarbrough of Paw Paw, and Mrs. Catherine (Steve) Hoehn of Cloverdale, Ohio. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Mrs. Lane (Murrad) Stewart Masoud of Holt, MI; Mark (Becky) Stewart of Charlotte, NC; Robert (Theresa) Yarbrough of Paw Paw;  Richard (Amy) Yar-brough, Jr., of Bloomingdale; Mrs. Stacy (Charlie) Yarbrough Douglas of Paw Paw; Chris Dick of Perrys-burg, OH; and Andy Hoehn of Cloverdale, OH; her great-grandchildren: Lena and Micah Masoud, Robert, Jr. and Jared Yarbrough; Charles (Haylie) Douglas, Jr.; Lucas Douglas; Danny (Alissa) Taylor; Stewart, Kailie and Jersie Kay Yarbrough; great-great-grandson, Jace Douglas; stepchildren, Kim (Garry) Seeber-Townsend of Eaton Rapids, MI,  Diane Deal, Greg Seeber, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also is survived by several very dear friends.
Maizie got to meet three of her biological aunts before their passing and several biological cousins from all over. She kept in contact with three of her cousins, Diane Koski of Center Line, MI, Sheila Schuh of Kinross, MI,  and Tom Forrest of Milwaukee, WI.
Maizie was preceded in death by her second husband, Floyd (Bud) Seeber in 1991, a stepdaughter, Terry Seeber Parnell; a half sister, Ida Campbell Shepard, whom she never got to meet; and her former husband, Dr. R.G. Stewart in 2003.
A Memorial Service for Maizie will be held on Saturday, May 18, at the First Presbyterian Church in Paw Paw. Visitations will be from 12 to 1 p.m. (Cookies and coffee will be served.) The service will begin at 1 p.m., with a luncheon to follow.
Interment will be at 5 p.m. at Irving Cemetery in Middleville, MI.
