Violet G. Sherwood

    LAWRENCE - Violet Genevieve Sherwood, 90, of Lawrence, passed away March 26, 2017. She was born Aug. 17, 1926, in Comstock, MI, to the late Walter and Emma (Woodard) Wilson.
    Violet was a devoted wife and mother. She attended the Baptist Bible Church in Lawrence, and retired after 29 years from the Kalamazoo Regional Psychiatric Hospital. She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, lake activities, the birds and nature. Violet enjoyed long walks with the family dog and her sister and neighbor, Beverly.
    She is survived by her five daughters, Sally (David) Parker of Mattawan, Susan (William) Forester of Kalamazoo, Mary (David) Miller of Oracle, AZ, Rebecca (Gerald) Bowler of Monterey, TN and Catherine (William Selkirk III) Miller of Kalamazoo; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Vernice Pacic; along with many nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, George Sherwood in 2016; her brother,  Vincent; and four sisters, Virginia, Beverly, Helen and Grace.
        Memorial contributions may be directed to the animal shelter of the  donor’s choice.
