The Gobles girls basketball team came to play last Friday night against Watervliet. The Lady Tigers overcame the polar vortex and a week of having only one practice to light up the court in a commanding, 71-18 win.
Gobles dominated right from the start, leading 23-0 after the first quarter.
All eleven Gobles players scored in the game. Maddy Tiller had 17 points and six rebounds, Libbee Nason scored 13 points and snagged nine rebounds and Tatum Miller added 10 points.

The Tigers hosted Saugatuck on Tuesday night, and it looked like Gobles would have little trouble with the Indians as they took the 32-21 halftime lead. But Saugatuck came back with a purpose, outscoring the Tigers, 23-17 in the second half. Gobles remained in control of the game and held on to win, 49-44, to move to 11-0 on the season.
“Tonight, we had a hard time keeping them off the offensive glass and out of the paint,” said Gobles Coach John Curtis. “We will need to improve in those aspects if we want to attain a few of our season goals down the road.”
Tiller had 12 points and eight rebounds for the Tigers. Christiana Hunt and Emily Lopez each added 11 points.
