Gobles boys team advances to State meet

   PORTAGE - On Saturday, the Gobles cross country team traveled to Portage West Middle School to compete in the Division 4 Regionals.  At this level, the top three teams and the top 15 runners advance to the State meet.
   The boys team finished in second place and is headed to the State meet this weekend at the Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn. Gobles had 84 points behind Kalamazoo Christian’s 59 points. Lawrence finished in 4th place out of the 12 teams represented with 122 points.
   Gobles’ Mickey Kohlert ran a personal best time of 18:21.9 to place eighth overall. Josh Paladi was 13th (18:34.5), Justin Chilla placed 16th (18:36.1), Nile Devers placed 21st (19:16.2), Trenton Litchfield was 26th (19:42.1), Ross Thorpe, 27th place (19:49.5), and Cesar Martinez took 36th place (20:12.6). 
   For Lawrence, Isaiah Beiter will go on to the State competition with a 5th place finish (18:10.3), and Alan Macyauski advances with a seventh place finish (18:17.8).
   For the Lady Tigers, Keaghan Kelly advances to State with a ninth place finish with a time of (22:03.3). Emily Lopez was 24th (23:36.8), Abby Sandahl followed in 25th (23:40.3), and Alana Lee was 26th (23:49.6). Gobles finished in fifth place as a team with 109 points. The winning team of St. Phillips Catholic Central had 36 points. 
   For Lawrence, Naomi Norris placed 35th (25:04.4) and Camila Mancera finished in 42nd place (25:35.10).
