LAWTON - Saugatuck came into Lawton Friday with a 3-0 conference record and went home with a 42-0 win over a sometimes-struggling Blue Devil team.
Lawton could not get any kind of offense going against the Indians, managing just 75 yards of total offense, while the Indians amassed 468 yards -- all on the ground. Their average yards per carry ended up being 12 compared to 1.4 yards per carry for Lawton.
Though the game stats were discouraging, the Blue Devils did have some great moments: Nick Baldwin came up with a fumble recovery; Nate brooks picked off one of the Indians’ passes and forced a fumble, while leading the defense with 14 tackles.  Gaining the most yards on the ground was Harrison Maynard, who carried the ball nine times for 34 yards.
Punters saw a little more action than the coach might like. Senior Dylan Amm kicked three times, for a 31-yard average, his longest punt being 39 yards. Sophomore Connor DeVries punted twice for a 38.5-yard average.
The Blue Devils closed out their 2018 season on the road  Friday at Martin for an even match with the 2-2 Clippers.
