The Lawrence softball team hosted the River Valley  on Tuesday evening, dropping both games, 7-5 and 15-3.
The Tigers started out strong in the first game; Pitcher Valerie Norris slammed a solo homerun in her first at bat of the evening, and helped the Tigers take an early five-run lead when her second at bat produced another long home run.  Lawrence held a 5-1 lead until late in the game. After scoring two runs, the Mustangs took the lead with a three-run homerun, which put River Valley up 6-5 over Lawrence.
While the young Lawrence team struggled to keep errors under control, River Valley delivered some hard hits on offense. The Mustangs held the Tigers scoreless the rest of the way for a 7-5 win.
Norris took the loss for Lawrence, finishing with seven strike outs. She hit two homeruns and took an intentional walk at the plate.
River Valley jumped out to a four-run lead in the second game. Lawrence took back a run in their first at bat, when, with one out, Erika Gonzalez found herself on first base. Ahlexis Vasquez followed with a single of her own; Gonzalez advanced to second. Camilla Mancera then brought in Gonzalez on a base hit. Similar to the first game, the Tigers struggled to control the tough hits delivered by the Mustangs. River Valley were quickly too far ahead for the Tigers to come back. The game was called after five innings with a score of 15-3.
Pitching for Lawrence was Peyton Murney, who allowed eight hits and fanned four batters.
