GOBLES -  In a Saturday two-game softball tourney, the Lady Redskins claimed an easy 16-0 win over host Gobles to start the day, but lost in the finals game to Parchment, 6-0.
Hannah Mellinger was her usual self on the mound in the first game, allowing two hits and no runs, retiring eight Tigers hitters via strikeout.  Emma Kooi and Maddi Wilder had the hot bats with three hits each, while Courtney Ellis stroked two and three base hits. Wilder and Kooi each batted in four base runners.
In the late game,  the Panthers struck for three runs in each the second and third innings, which turned out to be the total offensive production for both teams on the day.  Audrey Straka and Morgan Dwyer managed the only two Paw Paw hits.

At Allegan last Tuesday, Paw Paw’s bats were hot, and the result was a 15-0, 20-7 sweep of the Tigers that featured a total of 29 hits in eight innings of play.
Hannah Mellinger was dominating in her start on the hill, allowing just one Allegan hit and no runs in the game shortened to three innings by the mercy rule.  She fanned eight of the total 10 batters she faced.
Emily Vanderburg led the way with three hits plus three RBI, Audrey Straka,  Maddie Hasse, and Morgan Dwyer each contributed a pair of hits, with Emma Haase, Courtney Ellis also hitting safely.
Game two was nearly over early, with a nine-run first stanza by the Redskins; although, a total of 11 bases on balls issued to Tiger batters helped them stay in the game through five innings.
Raelyn DeGroff picked up the win on the mound with five innings of work for Paw Paw.
Mercedes Strachan had a big game with three hits, four runs scored. Clarissa Mireles and Brooke Vyvermann also collected three safe hits. Courtney Ellis had a pair of safeties including a home run and four runs driven in.  Emma Hasse and Maddi Wilder added a pair of base hits.
