The Gobles volleyball team toughed out a rough day at the Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament.  The Tigers lost to Kalamazoo Christian, 10-25, 19-25; to Galesburg, 18-25, 9-25; and split with Saugatuck, 25-20, 20-25.
Gobles Christiana Hunt had 7 kills, 2 blocks, Libbee Nason 6 kills, 14 digs and Emily Baxter 19 assists, 19 digs and 4 kills.
“We struggled with service receive today and that made it difficult for us to ran any offense,” said Gobles Coach Renee Rambadt. “We did play a couple of good games on the day.  I am proud of the girls and the way they tried some new plays for the day.”

In the first round of Districts, the Gobles girls faced a tough Schoolcraft squadron. The Tigers were no match for the Eagles, going down in three quick games, 5-25, 14-25 and 5-25. Schoolcraft went on to win the District title by defeating Kalamazoo Christian.
Leading Gobles were Nason with two kills and six digs, Baxter with four assists and four digs, and Kylee Mandigo with six digs and an ace.
“We once again struggled with service receive and moving on defense,” said Coach Rambadt. “We did step it up in the second game, becoming more aggressive on shots, blocking and moving. We knew Schoolcraft was a very good team.”
