LAWTON - Lawton Lady Blue Devils hosted the Delton  Kellogg Panthers for a conference match Tuesday night, that looked like it would be a rough one for the home team. In the opening game of the match, the Lawton girls had difficulty even returning serves, making it hard to start an attack on the Panthers.
By the end of the first game, Lawton started to gel, but dropped the first game 13-25. They showed great improvement in game two, but lost 18-25.
Finally, midway through the third game, the Lady Blue Devils came alive. After being down 16-21, they kicked it into high gear and started scoring on the Panthers and caught them off guard. The Blue Devils’ defense was impenetrable.  The Devils seemed to dig every attempted kill and sent it back by a thundering hit from outside hitters Gabby Hall and Josie Buchowski. Their efforts carried it over for a 26-24 win.
The Lady Blue Devils came on strong in game four, looking to make it a five-game set; but the Panthers wound up being just a little too strong for them on this evening. The Panthers closed out game four and the 3-1 match with a 21-25 win.
Leading the stats chart for the Devils was Hall with 12 kills and seven digs followed by  Buchowski and Madison Lawson each with seven kills.  Buchowski had five digs, while Lawson had four. The most digs on the night were by Kat Kuhlman with 17, followed closely by sophomore setter Kiana Auton, with 15.
The Lady Blue Devils never gave up and continue to fight for their coach Megan McCorry. The girls, now 1-4 in conference play, have had a challenging season leaving, but still battle for every point.
