The Gobles wrestling team entered four wrestlers in the Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament. Hunter Underwood finished as runner-up in his weight class and earned second team All-S.A.C, while Brady Dembinski placed third for all-conference honorable mention.
In the team Districts, Gobles lost to Bloomingdale,58-12. Cody Hatten and Underwood both scored first period pins and Joe DeYoung II had a solid match against a state placer from last year.
Results from the individual Districts at Ravenna show two wrestlers heading to Regionals. Underwood (152 lbs.) placed third, and Cody Hatten (145 lbs.) placed third to advance to Regional competition in New Lothrup next Saturday.
“Our District tournament was brutal,” said Gobles Coach Vincent Lindel.  “There were many top caliber athletes, many of whom were returning Regional and State placers are now sitting at home.”
As a team, the Tigers finish the season with a 6-15 record.  On a high note, four of the six Gobles wrestlers ended with winning records.
