Six Mattawan wrestlers heading to Regionals

   The Mattawan wrestling team claimed the Division 2 District championship last week, hosting Gull Lake and Plainwell. The Wildcats dominated their match with Gull Lake, winning 52-30.
   The two visiting teams had faced off in the semi-final match to open the night. Gull Lake easily advanced to the finals with a 57-19 win over Plainwell. As a whole, Mattawan completely dominated the championship matches, with the majority of their wrestlers winning by a pin.
   Later in the week, six Mattawan wrestlers moved on to the Individual Regionals. Earning first place overall were Tyson Ford, Cam Sanderson and Anthony Williamson.
   Freshman James Campbell clinched a second-place finish, while senior Justin Rigling finished in third. Logan Melvin earned a trip to the Regionals with a fourth-place finish at 125 lbs. The team will face Harper Creek in a Regional semi-final match.
